Hedgtrade Daily Risk Brief

Daily Risk Brief - August 05, 2026

Welcome back everyone... today's level matters because the S&P 500 is sitting almost exactly on its Hurst trend baseline at 7,744 , making this a key decision point for the next market swing.

The as-of price is 7,744.3, matching the baseline, while the aggregated ProjectedClose is also 7,744.3. That tells us the index is currently at equilibrium, but the cycle structure suggests this balance may not last.

Over the next several sessions, the Hurst projection turns lower. ProjectedClose falls toward 7,645 around August 12, with projected support near 7,613 and resistance around 7,678. A short-term rebound is then expected toward approximately 7,698 around August 20.

Momentum is beginning to roll over. The shorter 12-day and 16-day cycles become negative immediately, while the larger 60-day and 205-day cycles also create downside pressure. The 74-day and 280-day cycles provide some offset, but not enough to prevent a near-term pullback.

The model identifies a potential low setup around August 12 and a potential high window around August 19 through August 21. That means traders should watch whether weakness stabilizes near 7,600 to 7,620 , or whether the market fails that zone and accelerates lower.

Looking further out, the projected path becomes more defensive. ProjectedClose declines toward 7,443 by mid-September, near 7,343 at the end of September, and approximately 7,316 by December 9. The later projected range is roughly 7,228 to 7,403, so volatility remains meaningful even as the bands widen.

Seasonality and the broader trend backdrop remain more constructive, but the Hurst cycle is warning that the next several weeks may be corrective rather than straight-line bullish. The key levels are 7,771 resistance and 7,717 support today.

For the next update, watch whether the S&P 500 holds support, whether momentum turns higher near the August 12 low window, and whether price can reclaim 7,770. Until then, the message is simple: the index is at the baseline, but the projected path points lower before any meaningful recovery attempt.
