Zcash Price Warning: Multiple ZEC Technical Setups Point to Selloff Under $500

By Yashu Gola | Updated: Jul 22, 2026

Key Points

  • ZEC’s four-hour symmetrical triangle breakdown indicates a near-term downside target of $480–$485.
  • A sustained move below the 200-period EMA near $496 could confirm further losses beneath the key $500 level.
  • The daily ascending channel suggests a deeper correction toward $405–$420 unless ZEC reclaims $560–$575.

Market Overview

Zcash (ZEC), a leading privacy coin by market capitalization, has seen a decline of over 4% recently, trading around $510, which is approximately 15% lower than its local high of $590 established a week prior. This correction jeopardizes the cup-and-handle breakout thesis and validates multiple bearish reversal patterns, indicating potential further declines below the critical $500 support level.

Technical Analysis

ZEC Symmetrical Triangle Breakdown Targets $480

The four-hour chart reveals that ZEC has broken below the lower trendline of a symmetrical triangle, suggesting that sellers have gained control after several unsuccessful attempts to reclaim the $560–$580 region. The measured downside target from this breakdown is approximately $480–$485, representing an additional decline of about 5%–6% from current levels.

Additionally, ZEC has fallen below its 20, 50, and 100-period exponential moving averages (EMAs), which are clustered between $518 and $539, creating a resistance zone that may limit any short-term rebounds. The 200-period EMA near $496 is emerging as the next immediate support level, and a decisive close below this moving average would strengthen the case for a decline toward the triangle target near $480.

Despite the bearish outlook, the four-hour relative strength index (RSI) has dropped to 32, just above the oversold threshold of 30, which could trigger a relief bounce or a retest of the broken triangle support. A recovery above $540–$545 would weaken the breakdown thesis.

ZEC Ascending Channel Signals a Deeper Pullback

The daily chart supports the possibility of a deeper correction within the prevailing ascending channel. ZEC faced rejection near the channel’s upper boundary and the 0.236 Fibonacci retracement level around $575, indicating that buyers struggled to maintain momentum above $560.

Currently, ZEC is approaching its 20-day EMA near $512, while the daily RSI has turned lower toward 52. Further selling pressure may push ZEC toward the channel’s lower trendline around $405–$420, which coincides with the 200-day EMA near $406, potentially acting as a stronger support zone. A recovery above $560–$575 would weaken the bearish outlook and reopen the path toward the channel’s upper boundary.
