Gold and Silver Price Forecast: Key Insights
Published: October 9, 2026
Gold Market Overview
Gold prices have recently shown a positive trend, breaking above $4,183.83, supported by softer U.S. Treasury yields and a weaker dollar. The next resistance level is projected at $4,225.81, with further targets at $4,271.57. The backdrop for gold has improved due to lower yields and a shift in Federal Reserve rate expectations, with a 17% chance of a rate hike in October and an 83% chance in December.
Investment demand remains robust, with global gold ETF holdings reaching a record 4,256 tonnes after significant inflows of $10 billion in September. Additionally, China has continued its gold-buying streak for 23 consecutive months, further bolstering demand.
Silver Market Dynamics
Silver has also benefited from the Fed's shift in policy, but its market dynamics differ from gold. The Silver Institute forecasts a market deficit of 46.3 million ounces for 2026, marking the sixth consecutive year of shortfall. Industrial demand for silver is projected at 639.6 million ounces, although this is tempered by the trend of 'silver thrifting' in solar panel manufacturing.
Despite these challenges, demand from sectors such as AI infrastructure and automotive electronics is expected to provide support. Retail investment in silver is anticipated to rise by 88% in 2026, following several years of low demand.
Technical Analysis
Gold Technical Analysis
Gold is currently trading at $4,193.60, having convincingly broken above its descending trendline. The first resistance level to watch is $4,225.81, with support at $4,183.83. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) indicates bullish momentum, although a pullback may be possible if the price stretches too far.
Silver Technical Analysis
Silver is trading near $60.42, having bounced back from the $58.94 support level. It has reclaimed $59.96 and is testing a downward trendline. The first resistance level is at $61.72, with further targets at $63.06 and $65.09. The RSI suggests improving momentum, but a close below $58.94 could shift control back to sellers.
