BNB Price Forecast: Broadening Wedge Signals 25% Decline

Published: Oct 09, 2026

Key Points

  • BNB risks a 25% decline toward $540 as a bearish broadening wedge signals a potential reversal.
  • A breakdown below $734 could accelerate selling toward the $685–$725 support zone.
  • Hawkish Federal Reserve minutes and higher interest rates add to BNB's downside risks.

Current Market Overview

As of October 9, 2026, Binance Coin (BNB) was trading at approximately $742, reflecting a decline of about 4.8% over the latest three-day candle. This downturn follows a failed attempt to sustain a recovery towards the $800 mark.

Technical Analysis

BNB is currently approaching the upper boundary of a broadening wedge pattern, characterized by diverging trendlines that connect progressively higher highs and lower lows. The upper boundary is acting as resistance near the $830–$850 range, while the lower trendline extends toward the $500–$540 region.

The recent rejection near $800 heightens the likelihood of a reversal towards the lower boundary of the wedge. The downside target aligns with the 0 Fibonacci retracement level near $539.33, reinforcing this area as a potential support confluence.

For sellers to strengthen the bearish outlook, BNB must first break below the 0.236 Fibonacci level at $734.37. A decisive breakdown could lead to accelerated selling towards the cluster of exponential moving averages between $685 and $725, followed by the psychological support level at $600.

The relative strength index (RSI) has also retreated from near-overbought territory, indicating that bullish momentum is weakening.

Federal Reserve Impact

BNB's bearish technical setup coincides with renewed uncertainty regarding the Federal Reserve's interest rate outlook. The minutes from the Fed's September meeting, released on October 7, indicated a unanimous decision to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75%–4.00%. Most officials expect another rate hike before the end of the year due to ongoing inflation concerns.

This hawkish stance has contributed to rising US Treasury yields, increasing the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like BNB. Higher borrowing costs may also reduce liquidity and speculative demand in the cryptocurrency market, further reinforcing the bearish correction indicated by the broadening wedge.

However, there is some market expectation that the Fed may pause further increases at their upcoming meeting on October 27–28, which could help BNB defend its nearby support levels. Conversely, stronger inflation data or more aggressive policy signals could strengthen the case for a decline towards the $540 target.
