The Crypto Market Has Retreated Further Within the Range

By: Alexander Kuptsikevich | Published: Oct 06, 2026

Market Overview

The cryptocurrency market has experienced a slight decline of 0.7%, bringing the total market capitalization down to $2.91 trillion. This downturn is attributed to a strong US dollar and a sell-off in the bond market, overshadowing the recent all-time highs in the Nasdaq-100 index.

Bitcoin Analysis

Bitcoin is currently trading at approximately $85,200. A critical support level is identified at $84,000; a breach below this could lead to a further decline towards $80,000. The cryptocurrency has struggled to break through recent highs, indicating a cautious market sentiment.

Traders are advised to monitor the $2.85 trillion to $2.95 trillion range closely before making significant moves. The recent performance of various cryptocurrencies shows Filecoin (+11.3%), Internet Computer (+5.1%), and Near Protocol (+3.6%) as the top gainers, while Dash (−6.1%), Stellar (−4.2%), and The Graph (−3.5%) lag behind.

Market Sentiment and Future Outlook

Despite the current bearish sentiment, there is no immediate reason for panic selling. Traders are encouraged to observe how the market reacts at the boundaries of the established range. The upward trend for Bitcoin is under threat, but confirmation of a breakout has yet to occur.

Institutional Activity

Institutional interest remains strong, with Strategy purchasing an additional 334 BTC worth $29 million, bringing their total holdings to 848,000 BTC at an average price of $75,400. Strive has also made significant purchases, acquiring 2,000 BTC for $169 million, increasing their reserves to 29,462 BTC.

In Ethereum, BitMine has added 15,112 ETH to its reserves, totaling 6.016 million ETH, which is about 4.93% of the total supply. The company aims to acquire 5% of the total ETH supply, needing an additional 85,000 ETH.

Ethereum Staking Withdrawals

The Ethereum staking withdrawal queue has reached a year-to-date high of 786,000 ETH, representing around 2% of the total locked supply. Current withdrawal times exceed 13 days, with a deposit queue of approximately 1.5 million ETH, leading to a waiting period of about 25 days.
