Silver Market Analysis - August 2026

Key Highlights

  • Silver price tests $70, marking a significant rise of over 20% in one month.
  • Key drivers include a weak US dollar, debt market uncertainty, and long-term inflationary pressures.
  • Forecast suggests potential movement towards $72.50, with key support at $65.

Current Market Dynamics

The recent turmoil in the debt market has led to a weakened US dollar, prompting a surge in demand for precious metals, particularly silver. The price has recently broken above the 100-period moving average, trading in the range of $69.40 to $70.00 per ounce, reflecting a notable monthly increase of approximately 20.5%.

Factors Influencing Silver Prices

1. Debt Market Turmoil and Weak Dollar

Growing uncertainty in the treasury bond markets and a declining USD value are driving capital towards hard assets like silver. There has been a noticeable rebound in demand for silver from ETFs, although futures contracts have not seen significant interest.

2. Inflationary Pressures and Rising Oil Prices

With tensions in the Middle East and WTI crude oil prices approaching $90 per barrel, global inflation expectations are rising. While high energy prices have negatively impacted bullion in the short term, the expectation of prolonged inflation is likely to support both gold and silver prices in the long run.

3. Global Copper Supply Issues

Silver is often mined as a byproduct of copper. Supply issues in the copper market can consequently affect silver prices. Additionally, ongoing energy crises may increase demand for alternative energy sources, which utilize both copper and silver.

Future Outlook for Silver

Bullish Scenario

If silver maintains its position above $70.00, it could reach resistance around $72.50, coinciding with the 50.0 retracement of the last downward impulse. A sustained recovery could lead to new historical highs, potentially targeting $130 per ounce in the long term.

Correction Scenario

Indicators such as a high RSI and Z-score valuation (+3.21) suggest caution. Key support levels are at $65.00, with a significant demand barrier around the 50-day average at approximately $61.30.

Seasonal Trends

The second half of the year typically brings increased volatility to the silver market, with potential turning points around the September Federal Reserve meeting. A dovish stance from the Fed could further bolster silver prices alongside other precious metals.
